My son's car was making a seriously horrible noise. Thank goodness for my husbands good ear. He knew exactly what the noise was, ordered this bearing, and now the car feels and sounds brand new!
Save your self $50.00 and just replace the bearing working out without a problem after 4000 miles so far.
Save a lot of money replacing your G-37 Idler pulley bearings. You need 3 bearings and of course you replace your tensioner. If you seem to be losing power or the car seems to hesitate from a stop and you car has more than 70k or 140k miles on it replace that tensioner along with the serpentine belt.Get a heavy 5 pound mallet, bang out the old bearings with a socket. I HIGHLY recommend using a heatgun to heat up the pulley to make it easier to bang them out and insert. The old bearing will be destroyed in the process as it should be. Then use a socket that will cover the outer edge of the new bearing and bang it into place Or if you have an hydraulic press, do it that way.. Use gloves, a nice block of wood to adsorb the impact. You may want to buy a special long handle14mm wrench to remove the tensioner bolt. ( I bought this one Capri Tools 14 x 15 mm 0 Degree Offset Extra Long Box End Wrench (CP11800-1415)) The metal is soft and will deform easily It's a tight fit if you don't remove the radiator fans, a PITA to do. Then use a piece of pipe so you can get better leverage. Good luck.
If you have an 95-04 Toyota Tacoma accessory drive pulley which tensions the AC Compressor belt and its squeaking or sounds like a garbage disposal like mine did , you can easily remove the bearing and pop this one in. I believe Timken and Koyo are one and the same now so you will be getting OEM quality without paying the price for the bearing assembly. Napa quoted me $42 for the pulley assy and the OEM pulley runs $52 Toyota. This bearing may fit other years as well. Good luck...we are all counting on you.
